Volunteers greet patients at the information desk, answer phones, escort patients to their rooms, deliver mail and run errands. They lend a hand to patients, their families and the hospital staff. Volunteers are utilized by the hospital in various placements.  Placements are as follows: Birth Center, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Emergency Department, Employee Health, Eucharistic Minister, The Foundation, Gift Shop, Hospitality Cart, Human Resources, Infusion Services, Magazine Distribution, Mail Room, Material Distribution Center, Medical Records, Mon Health Care, Mon Kids Child Development Center, Orthopedic Center, PathFinder, Patient Chart Assembly, Pet Visitation (certified Pet Therapy Dogs), Physical Therapy, Pre-Admission Testing, Reception Desk, Sterile Processing, SurgiCare Liaison, Transport Services, Women’s Imaging Services, and Wound Healing Center.  
                                                           
The Department of Volunteer Services encourages our junior volunteers to continue their education after high school.  With the Auxiliary of Mon General's commitment to comunity, youth, education and finical support the Department of Volunteer Services is able to offer two scholarships to high school students.  The two scholarships are sponsored by The Auxiliary of Mon General and The Auxiliary of West Virginia Hospital Association.
