Volunteer Programs
Adult Program
Mon General has over 160 volunteers who contribute more than 28,000 hours to the health system each year. We are fortunate to have such a large and diverse group of volunteers, who give their time and talents to our hospital. Our volunteers are an vital part of our staff, volunteering independently and alongside our staff. Their value and use is evident as you will find a Mon General Volunteer around almost every corner you turn.
In addition to contributing their time, many volunteers are members of the Auxiliary of Mon General. Auxiliary members hold various events to raise money for the hospital. Those funds along with proceeds from the hospital’s Gift Shop are donated back to the hospital. Funds are used to purchase new medical equipment, support various projects that directly affect patient care and constructing and renovating new areas. The Auxiliary has donated a great deal of money over the years, most recently donated $1 million dollars to the Foundation of Mon General for construction on the New South Tower.

Our volunteers take pride in their work and appearance, and are committed to be valuable members of the Mon General healthcare team.
College Student Program
We realize that many college students are pursuing degrees in the healthcare field and we want to be able to provide them with the opportunity to experience a hospital setting. We do offer volunteer placements for college students, where they can volunteer a minimum of one 3-4 hour shift per week and commit to volunteering a minimum of 100 hours. Students must be 18 years of age and graduated from high school to participate. You may complete a college volunteer application on line. After submission of your application, students will receive an email with further information about the program and opportunities available. An interview will be set up to discuss what volunteer position and schedule would be the best match. Junior Volunteer Program
Mon General offers a Junior Volunteer Program for high school teens ages 14 through 18 in the Fall, Spring and Summer. Our program has proven to be an excellent opportunity for students- teaching them responsibility and maturity, along with the opportunity to earn community service hours. The Junior Volunteers contribute many volunteer hours by helping in the Gift Shop, Material Distribution Center, Medical Records, Mon Kids Child Development Center, Patient Chart Assembly, Reception Desk and Sterile Processing. The program provides students with the experience of working in a hospital, as well as obtaining a good reference for their first jobs.
