Placement Opportunities

During the interview process, you will meet with the Volunteer Services Director to discuss which placement location will be the best fit for you. Not all placement opportunities will be available.

Key: J – Junior    C – College    A - Adult

Admin/Clerical (CA)
Volunteers’ responsibilities encompass answering phones, scanning necessary documents, aiding in meeting setup, escorting participants, and managing front desk duties.

Diabetic Education Volunteer (CA)
Volunteer will provide clerical assistance to the diabetes educators.

Caring Cart (JCA)
Volunteers makes rounds to patient rooms with our Caring Cart, distributing puzzle books, reading materials, and engaging activities. They also provide personal hygiene items and maintain the cart's cleanliness.

Emergency Department (ED) (JCA)
Volunteers assist the health care team by greeting patients, assisting with patient’s room assignments, communicating with families, and maintaining patient comfort while in the emergency room.  Responsibilities also include delivering lab tests and assisting staff with the escort of patients for x-rays and tests, etc. 

Endoscopy (JCA)
Assist Endoscopy staff with escorting patients and family members leaving after recovery, restocking patient room and serving as a communication liaison between patient/family and staff.

Family Birth Center (CA)
Volunteers assist in maintaining a secure unit by providing appropriate access for visitors and family members, as directed by the birth center staff.

Gift Shop (JCA)
Volunteers assist Gift Shop Supervisor with the daily operation of the Gift Shop. These duties include greeting and assisting customers, operating cash register, cleaning, and straightening merchandise.

Infusion (JCA)
Volunteer will assist the health care team in Infusion Services to provide greetings to customers arriving in the department, provide information, assist in registration, answer phone calls, make pharmacy runs, and aid with comfort measures to customers, families, and visitors.

Lab Desk (JCA)
Volunteers assist with patients, family members and visitors, keeping them informed of patient delays, assisting with registration, and other duties as assigned.

MonKids (J)
Assist teachers with routine activities such as: preparing and distributing materials, guiding children during activities, aiding in cleanup, and helping children with handwashing.
 
Substitute Volunteer (JCA)
Volunteer in multiple areas and fill in when needed.

Occupational Therapy (OT) (C)
Volunteers observe occupational therapy treatment and learn how people become independent through the use of purposeful activities and equipment. Volunteers will also become involved with the daily clerical functions & responsibilities of the OT Department (Limited spots available.)

Pathfinder (JCA)
Volunteers assist in transporting patients to and from surgery, escorting family members, carry and answer a phone, physically walk or wheel individuals to locations, deliver flowers and care cards. Assist front desk as needed.

Pet Therapy (JSA)
Volunteer and their Certified Pet Therapy Dog will visit patients upon request.
 
Physical Therapy (PT) (C)
Volunteers assist Physical Therapists in preparation and application of hot and cold packs, mobility of patients, assignment of equipment, preparation of treatment rooms, stocking supplies, running errands, etc. (Limited spots available.)

Reception Desk (JCA)
Volunteers greet visitors, helping in their orientation to the hospital.  Answer questions and telephone inquiries. (Saturday and Sunday)

Spiritual Care Partners (JCA)
Makes scheduled visits to provide companionship, emotional support, or spiritual support to inpatients per the request of the Pastoral and Spiritual Care Director.

Surgicare (JCA)
Volunteers assist SurgiCare with family members and visitors keeping them informed of patient delays, escorting family/visitors to needed areas per staff request, answer phone in waiting room, tracing beepers, communicating to family/visitors specifics via the direction of the nursing staff, other duties as assigned.

Wound Healing Center (JCA)
Volunteers will assist the health care team at the Wound Healing Center to provide greeting, information, assist in registration, filing, answering phones, and making reminder calls.
